How was your Easter weekend festivities? Ours was filled with kids, chocolate, walks, showhomes, Easter Egg Hunts and Affogatos. In Italian, the word Affogato means “drowned”. This creamy treat made up of hot shots of espresso poured over a scoop of premium vanilla ice cream or gelato is typically served as a dessert. For ours we also included a dollop of whipping cream and for a more adult version some include a dessert liqueur such as Baileys. Chocolate lovers may enjoy a popular modification where chocolate ice cream is used in place of vanilla or maybe even Häagen-Dazs’ new Sea Salt Caramel Gelato. We all enjoyed it immensely and affogatos are sure to please any coffee lover at your next dinner party.
